A Rebel’s List of New Year’s Resolutions

Life’s full of surprises. You can’t predict where you’ll be a year from now. But that shouldn’t stop you from sketching out some goals. After all, what is the new year for if not to take stock of where you are and where you want to be?

Writing something down can serve as the first step in making a plan come to fruition. It locks it down.

To that end, we compiled a list of 2018 resolutions, which we encourage you to take as your own.

Make more music.
Music makes us happy. Scientists have found that it makes you run faster, helps you sleep better, lowers your stress, improves your memory, and even makes sitting in traffic hella more tolerable. Go see more bands. Strum a guitar. Sing in the shower. Buy some vinyl. Listen to tunes while you’re sipping on Rebel Yell. Listen to tunes with friends while you’re all sipping on Rebel Yell.

Set foot on another continent.
There are seven continents on this little blue planet, and it should be every rebel’s mission to hit ’em all. If you’ve traveled, you know the benefits: from broadening your horizons to boosting your confidence to the real-life education you cannot get any other way.

Be generous.
A study done at the University of Michigan found that generosity pays you back with positive effects, including reducing stress and improving both your mental and physical health. Next time you’re replenishing your stash of Rebel Yell, double up: Grab an extra to share with a pal.

Spend more time with the family.
By which we mean, of course, the Rebel Yell family of whiskeys. Look, we know how it is. You get in a routine. You let yourself get monopolized by Small Batch Rye, and next thing you know, you’re blowing off the original. Yes, you spent that long weekend last summer with Rebel Yell Root Beer — who could forget those indelibly rich, sweet moments. But as a result, you’ve been completely remiss on catching up with Rebel Yell Ginger. Don’t take it personally, Ginger! We still need your spice.
