The Sazerac: It’s one of the country’s first true cocktails. Legend has it that it was invented in New Orleans around 1850, and it was named for the cognac Sazerac de Forge et Fils — the drink’s main ingredient. Eventually, cognac gave way to rye, but the name stuck. So, grab a glass, grab your Rebel Yell Small Batch Rye, and get ready to sip a legendary cocktail — rebel-style.
1.5 ounces Rebel Yell Small Batch Rye
.25 ounce absinthe
1 teaspoon honey
1 sugar cube
3 dashes bitters
Lemon peel for garnish
Rinse a chilled old-fashioned glass with absinthe, discarding any excess, and set aside. Muddle sugar cube and bitters in a separate glass, then add Rebel Yell Small Batch Rye and ice. Stir until chilled (about 30 seconds), then strain into the chilled old-fashioned glass. Garnish with lemon peel.
